Roots and Shoots

Description: Roots and Shoots is a website that provides students and educators with resources that empower students to have a positive change in their communities. Roots and Shoots offer educators professional development, lesson plans, and resources to promote student engagement in making local and global changes.

Implementation: Educators can implement Roots and Shoots into the classroom by utilizing the “Together No Trash Project in a Box.” Students will begin by exploring their community and considering how they can help create cleaner communities. The Roots and Shoots lesson has mini stories about other students who are working to make a change in their communities, as well as links to dive deeper into the importance of protecting global biodiversity. This lesson will support educators in promoting positive civic engagement among students by addressing issues of public concern.
