MIT OpenCourseWare

Description

MIT OpenCourseWare (OCW) is a web-based publication of virtually all MIT course content. OCW is open and available to the world and is a permanent MIT activity.

Through OCW, educators improve courses and curricula, making their schools more effective; students find additional resources to help them succeed; and independent learners enrich their lives and use the content to tackle some of our world’s most difficult challenges, including sustainable development, climate change, and cancer eradication.

The LectureHall app provides a dynamic environment for accessing MIT OpenCourseWare video lectures on the go. A collaboration between MIT OpenCourseWare and Irynsoft, LectureHall uses Irynsoft’s VIRT2GO platform to make viewing OCW lectures a social experience in which users can update and keep tabs on their Facebook friends, post to a forum, and leave ratings and reviews of individual videos.

Here are some of the great features of the app:

FULL PORTABILITY

  • videos, catalog, notes, and forum posts are cached and viewable off-line.
  • Take notes or research the web while watching the video

SOCIAL FEATURES

  • interact with your facebook friends from within the app (Facebook login required)
  • ask questions on the discussion forum
  • see how others rated a lecture to determine which videos are the most helpful
