Educational App Store

Description

At the Educational App Store, we certify and curate educational apps, so that teachers and parents can feel confident when using mobile devices in the classroom and at home.

How do we do it?

During the last three years, the team at the EAS has been working closely with leading academics and practicing teachers to create a formal procedure and platform, which assesses the performance of an app from a features perspective and its content from a curriculum standpoint, leading to a certification.

The very best of these certified apps are then placed into an online library, where a full taxonomy is carried out against the national curriculum or common core standards by practicing teachers or educators, supported by accompanying resources.

The resources include a teacher’s description, the app’s relevance to the UK national curriculum / common core standards and tailor made lesson plans for both teachers and parents – a detailed guide on how the app can be used during a lesson or at home.

I would not recommend this tool. Tried the free trial on their website and was not able to download the app that my daughter wanted to try. I subsequently cancelled the free trial the same day, but found I was charged for the month after the free trial ended. I contacted the company 3 times via email over the past month (as that is their only available contact method on their website and any other place I have looked) and they have never responded. Subsequently I have had to get my bank involved to help prevent further charges and see if they can get a refund. Very unfortunate as I believe what they are trying to do is a good thing, but this was not cool.
