An ever-expanding list of apps I love for the art room!
I having been using Prezi since it's debut on TED and I love it. It captures the student's attention, has a platform that is fluid instead of linear, and is fun to create in. I have found that the online version is a little more stable than the app for creating but for presenting the app has been just fine.
My students and I share images through this storage app. You can load it on all of your devices and switch from one work environment to another seamlessly. Sometimes, when we are in the middle of a data heavy project such as animation, I move folders onto my desktop on my laptop to free up space. When my students and I have completed a project I move their files off and mine back on. There is additional storage available for a price.
This is one of my favorite note-taking, idea storing, lesson planning apps! As an art/drama teacher I am constantly in the creating stage of "in the mind" and this app helps me sleep by providing a safe place to put my thoughts to rest. With a tagging system that allows for ease of retrieval I am always able to find my lists, notes, checklists, and in progress work. I especially like that I can photograph lesson plans from years past and have them in a current electronic form instead of in a file cabinet. I rate this HAVE TO HAVE!
A fun way to present brainstormed connected ideas in a fun format.
Give your students a format to study the language of art they will enjoy. This is especially helpful for ESL and mainstreamed students. The app will read the words and definitions out loud.
So many videos and so little time! If you are thinking of initiating a 5 min. museum format in your classroom there are many people, ideas, and so much information you can share with your students about contemporary art issues on this site. Don't forget to check out your local TED organization for local talks and TED conferences.
Edmodo is popular with teachers and therefor has a lot to offer in the way of connecting with teachers across world. They hold a summer conference which will help the novice understand what creative uses there are for Edmodo.
