These tools allow students to create their own resources for learning and playing. They can be integrated with any subject area as an educational tool.
Students in my school use Story Book Creator on their iPads to write stories about animals, planets, and even signs of spring. The app allows them to type sentences or write them with their fingers. They can add images by choosing from a collection provided in the app, drawing them, or taking their own photos. When they finish their books, they can record themselves reading each page, and then share the books as a video or a My Story Book with their teachers.

My first grade students used Chatter Pix to take pictures of the sprouts that were growing on the window sill last April, and then animated their images to speak from the point of view of the plants. The plants had mouths that moved and explained how they came to be. Students used terminology used in class and described the steps needed to make a plant grow. ANYTHING can be animated in ChatterPix (Kids). The possibilities are endless for applying this app to learning in the classroom.

My kindergarten students enjoy creating imaginary scenarios that demonstrate their understanding of bullying, and how we should treat others. They choose their characters, and record their voices as the characters carry on their dialog. The result is a short video that the kids love to share with one another.

Scribble Press is better suited to students in 2nd-4th grades. They can choose from a story template in which they fill in the blanks, or edit sentences as needed. Settings and characters available within the app inspire student imagination, and promote creative writing. Students can choose from standard characters, or create their own using their iPad cameras to import their faces into characters designs. Their finished work is easily shared with teachers.
