This is a collection of my favourite educational apps that I have created. Three fully accessible and enhanced to support special needs education.
This app provides a wonderful way to get students involved in practicing their maths skills. In essence, it is a maths drill game that also involves solving Tangram puzzles to further exercise the brain. The maths drills almost become a hidden component of the game as kids focus on earning puzzle pieces. Tap Tangram supports multiplayer games where students can play together (in races, or collaboratively) across a WIFI network, so it's really well set up for use in a classroom environment.
Tap Times Tables is my original maths drill app. Loved the world over, it is in constant use, and features a number of games that target the times tables in different visual modes.
Money Up! was originally developed to provide a comprehensive learning environment for students with varying learning difficulties that need to develop an understanding of how to use money in a real world environment. Money Up! supports multiple currencies, multiple student profiles and provides a way to share lesson reports via email with teachers and/or parents.
Sight Words Balloons provides a graduated learning environment involving audio and visual clues to facilitate word recognition. Versatile and extensible via the ability to create or edit word lists, this is a great app for classroom use.
Spelling Balloons was built on the foundations provided by Sight Words Balloons, and provides a comprehensive set of lessons to help students learn to spell in a fun, engaging, and designed-for-classroom app.
