These are some of the apps we use in our iPad class for teachers in grades 6-8. These tools are not limited to these grade levels at all!
This is the best way for a teacher to transfer files from a computer or his/her own iPad to student devices. This is a place where teachers can store files in the cloud then create links to them to distribute to others. This can come in very handy for large files or when attaching files to emails is not practical.
This is a great slideshow building tool that prevents bad design. With its own image collection, students and teachers can quickly find images that can be used legally in their presentations.
This is a great iPad app that allows students to create stop motion videos. Be sure to try the "Onion Skin" feature to help you in positioning the subjects within the frame. Also, the default capture is a time interval that is very fast- you probably want to change this so that you manually capture the frames. If you're looking for an app that will let you add audio to the stop motion you've created, consider the iPhone/iPod app (works fine on iPad) titled "Lumify."
Pixntell allows users to narrate a series of images (free version limited to 5). The resulting video can be saved to Dropbox or YouTube directly. It is also saved as a video in the iPad's Camera Roll.
This is the go-to app for drawing. Different backgrounds (such as graph paper, notebook paper) can be used as well as photos. The result can then be exported to Photos.
From the makers of Snag-it comes this handy little app that records voice narration in sync with the writing on a markerboard. Different backgrounds can be used (such as diagrams, maps, photos). The result can then immediately be uploaded to the web, no accounts required.
This is one of the greatest storytelling apps available. Students select a number of sock puppets, props, and a background then record the talking of the puppets. The app transforms their voices into "cartoony" voices and renders the video of the show. The result can be posted to YouTube as well as saved to the Camera Roll as a video. The free version is limited to 30 seconds of recording and has a limited number of available puppets, props, and backgrounds.
