Edmodo is one of the most popular web tools in education right now. It is very useful for classroom management. Windy Byrd uses it and will be giving a lesson either today or later this summer on how she uses Edmodo in her classroom.

This is another classroom management tool. Some educators prefer it to Edmodo, but I do not know anyone who has used it. Reviewers said that it provided more ways for organizing than Edmodo.

Screencast-O-Matic is a very useful tool for creating online lessons and is quite easy to use. Windy Byrd uses this extensively and suggests that anyone who is doing a project in the computer lab may want to create a screencast to set up the requirements of the project.

Educreations is another tool for creating video lessons. Although it can be used via the web with a PC, it is most easily used with an iPad for creating lessons. Teachers can organize their lessons into different classes.

Jing is another very useful tool for short screencasts and screenshots. I have used it to put demonstrations of how to use the library computer catalog on the JH library page.

TASA (Texas Association of School Administrators) has joined iTunes U, and as of June 1, 18 Texas high school courses are slated to be available through this resource. Of course, it is only available on the Apple platform.

Khan Academy has over 4,000 videos covering K-12 math, many science topics, and some areas in history and other subjects. Students can see their progress and earn badges for their success. Teachers can track the progress of their students.
