Do not encourage the use of Interfolio. Perhaps helful at their inception, they are now going through profit-squeezing that has culminated in charging everyone whoever did commerce with them $19 to raise some cash (they notified everyone that the problem was already resolved-in my case they still have not refunded an over draft fee). Note: this was an unauthorized charge to credit card information that I didn’t even know they had retained. So there’s that scary.
The worst part of Interfolio is they are squeezing poor graduate students and other job seekers for a $48 subscription fee (no longer the prices listed above). They used to do a single conveyance of a confidential letter of recommend for a few dollars. Now, want to send one letter of recommend? $48. Effectively, they have conned all of the unis they service that they are an accessable channel for application information and many unis exclusively use Interfolio for their job application process.
What’s more, they have a huge credibility gap. I was able to obtain one of my confidential recommendations by a bureaucratic snafu where the wrong department sent me the letter and told me to send it to the proper department. I have yet to divulge this to the letter writer.
If you are HR, please understand thta you are limiting your hiring pool by using Interfolio. If you are an applicant, realize you are going to get squeezed. There are security gaps in this company from many angles.
