Reading Is Fundamental

Description

Reading Is Fundamental (RIF) prepares and motivates children to read by delivering free books and literacy resources to those children and families who need them most.

Founded in 1966, RIF is the nation’s largest children’s literacy nonprofit organization. RIF’s highest priority is reaching underserved children from birth to age 8. Through community volunteers in every state and U.S. territory, RIF provides 4 million children with 15 million new, free books and literacy resources each year.

We give books to kids in need.

Children find heroes and inspiration in their favorite stories. Through the joy of reading, books help young girls and boys unlock their imaginations and reach their full potential.

But 16 million children living in poverty in the United States currently lack access to new, high-quality books. In fact, only one in three has books in his or her home. That’s more than 10 million children who don’t have books to call their own.

Millions of children need books. Millions of children need RIF.
