Mentoring Minds

Description

For a decade, Mentoring Minds has been working with educators to give children the skills they need to succeed – in class, on tests, and for life. Through our full range of K-12 education tools, we help to incorporate the critical thinking and lifelong learning skills needed in the 21st-century marketplace.

Our founder, Michael Lujan, is a parent and educator himself. As an elementary school administrator, Michael saw that new, tougher state standards were posing challenges in the classroom. Kids were falling behind, and teachers were struggling to reach them. Both needed extra help to keep up.

He developed a flip chart that synthesized the concepts of new state math and reading standards into one condensed, easy-to-use format. When the first 6,000 copies quickly sold out, he recognized the great need for affordable, effective, and innovative learning tools. He and his wife, Lisa, a former banker, started the company that would become Mentoring Minds in 2002.

Today, Michael and the product development team of former educators create every new supplemental resource, teaching aid and learning tool by first asking simple question: What do classroom teachers need to make sure every child masters this material? How can children apply their knowledge in new situations? We then design products to fill in the gaps between traditional textbooks and the new skills children are expected to master at each grade level.

Every day, we work with thousands of schools and districts across the nation, helping create classrooms where children learn how to problem-solve and where teachers are confident in their ability to help each student. As your partner in education, we wouldn’t settle for anything less.
