Discovery Education is one of my favorite resources. I have used it in various subjects, including history, science, health and language arts, and my students always get excited when they see that I am pulling up the website. There are videos and lessons for all grade levels, and the site makes it easy to find exactly what you need. You can also pause the video to discuss what the students are learning or to elaborate on something they have seen.
Discovery Education (formerly United Streaming) is like having thousands of videos available at your fingertips! This web site is rich in content videos that connect to virtually any subject. I have used the web site to stream videos on my TV, smartboard, and screen (depending on the classroom).
Some of the videos have handouts and other printables that are free to access. Others have pre-viewing, during viewing, and post-viewing assessment activitites.
I have used this web site in English, Social Studies, Computer, and Library classes. When I get on there looking for a video, it is rarely that I am disappointed!
They stream videos of all types, and you can choose clips. There are lessons, and download materials to access as well.
There is a great tool called a board that teachers can use to organize learning without lecturing that students access. It is interactive if you create stations, or they can work alone at their own pace. You may upload other items you create such as worksheets. You can add links that take you to sites other than Discovery. It is user friendly.
Students may create their own boards too! It is a good way for students to organize a presentation. They can add papers they create, and they have a lot of resources the students can use.
