Spiral is a collection of free online tools that support engaging, collaborative classroom activities that can be used across all subjects and age ranges. Each app, (designed by education professionals) is designed to mirror a specific classroom practice. Using the app, teachers assess their students via “quick fire” or “discuss” questions. Students type responses to quick fire questions (created by teachers) and the responses can be anonymously displayed for feedback and review. Quick fire requires no planning – teachers just ask their questions and students respond using their personal devices. The “discuss” questions work with interactive presentations where teachers pose a question and potential answers. Students then type their responses for commentary and discussion. Discuss encourages students to share ideas with each other while the content created forms a useful shared knowledge base which can be accessed in the future for homework and exam revision. Team Up supports the process and outcomes of students working in teams. Student teams work from individual or shared devices to contribute ideas and build shared presentations. Clip is a fastest and easy way to incorporate video into lessons. Simply find and play any video from Youtube to which students add comments in a live feed. Teachers can add questions or multiple-choice quizzes, review comments and responses on a whiteboard, and save the results.
