Ms. Sharyn Moreau

French teacher at St Johns College High School

Bio

A teacher of French at the High School and College level since 1993, Mme Sazama-Moreau joined SJC in the fall of 2001. She has taught French at the University of Maryland, ESL for Montgomery College and at the University of Nice, France, and French Immersion Camp at the Maret School. Before coming to Saint John’s, Mme Moreau served as the Head of the Foreign Language Department at the Newport School. She has an MA from the University of MD in College Park and studied at the Université Paul Valéry, in Montpellier, France. She is a member of ACTFL, AATF, and MFLA. She has traveled, studied and taught in France and brings a wealth of experience to Saint John’s.

Mme Moreau teaches French 1, 2, 3, 4-Honors and AP French, and moderates the French Club, the SJC chapter of the Société Honoraire de Français and Latin Dance. She also teaches ESL, Kickboxing and Latin Dance. She began Spring Break Trips with Saint John’s students to France and other European countries in 2003 and organizes trips every two years. Spring Break 2013, she will be taking students to Paris and London. Her French AP class was part of Saint John’s Technology Initiative Pilot Program in 2012-2013 that uses IPads and technology in an effort to maximize learning and minimize paper use in the classroom. Now, all of her classes are part of the 1-1 iPad program.

I use it for animation. Students can create video, illustrate ideas, concepts, etc.

I use this tool with upper level French classes. It brings French news right to the iPad for students and teachers to read and discuss. It is difficult to use without a high level of French knowledge.

This is an amazing tool for French classes. There is an App for iPads. I use this to work on listening comprehension and to start discussions of current events or issues. The vocabulary games can’t be beat!
