Hi!! My name is Deanna Bower. I am a fourth year fourth grade teacher in South East Iowa. I am an untraditional new teacher in that I graduated college in 1992!! I was 47 years old when I started my career! Life led me down a different path for several years but, in 2016 I realized my lifelong dream of becoming a teacher. I’d like to say it was everything I dreamed of but, honestly it’s not. It’s meetings, and more meetings, and being micromanaged, and dealing with behaviors, and testing, testing, and more testing. With all that being said, it is the most challenging and rewarding job in the world and, I wouldn’t wish to do anything else. It’s a wonderful thing when I get up each morning and say, ” Time to go to school” not “UGH I have to go to work today.” I love the idea that each day is different and everyday I am grooming my students for success in life!!

My class loves this tool. It is a typing app that the students “race” against each other to increase their speed and accuracy in typing. They earn coins for different milestones and can use those coins to update their cars.
