Mr. Ben Sondgeroth

Director of Technology at Morrison Community Unit School District #6

Bio

I am the Director of Technology at Morrison Community Unit District #6, in Morrison, Illinois. I graduated in 2009 from University of Indianapolis where I double majored in History and Government/Geography Education. In my teaching career I was given the opportunity to teach my Social Studies classes in a digitally submersed environment. Using iPads as the main technology in the classroom I constructed multiple Social Studies classes using only the internet and iPad apps as content sources, completely eliminating the textbook. I received my Master’s Degree from the University of Illinois, in May of 2013 in Curriculum Technology Education Reform.

Now the Director of Technology in the Morrison school district, Ben will be in charge of making sure the district’s 1:1 Chromebook/iPad implementation is successful by organizing, planning, and teaching professional development to the staff of the district, among the other responsibilities of the position.

I teach: Social Studies

To ages: 5 to 18

I use this app in my current event classes every day. The students are able to create a personal magazine that has all of the topics that they are most interested in. I saw that once I introduced this to the class our conversations increased dramatically. It really was awesome.
