instaGrok is an interactive search engine for learners. It not only finds quality educational materials on any topic, but presents information in an engaging visual way, and helps students develop research and curation skills.

InstaGrok displays the context of any topic as a dynamic, visual web of important concepts and relationships. Students navigate this web based on their particular interests and adjust difficulty level based on their knowledge level. They begin to grasp the topic by looking at the Key Facts, and then dive deeper into quality educational websites, videos and images. Students can personalize the graph by pinning artifacts to it. Auto-generated quizzes offer stimulating active recall practice that re-enforces learning. Built-in journals help develop research and synthesis skills, and allow teachers to track students’ progress.

Instagrok is a great tool to help students breakdown researched information. With resources like google or wikipedia students are often over whelmed with a vast number text, quotes, and citations. With insatgrok a student can type in a research topic and instagrok breaks the information down into a nice web that has organized the most important information on your research topic. For students that are still struggling with filtering information on the web this a great resource. I used insatgrok to help teach my students about the Aztec’s and was amazed by the way they breakdown the information in a more students friendly way.

I love the way this search tool works. It provides you with a web showing all of the concepts related to your search term. As a teacher, I've created an account and set up a class code that students can use to create their own accounts. When signed in, you can "pin" information to a journal so you can keep track of sites you've visited and what you've learned there. The journal is also printable.
