I thought Glogster was very similar to the look and the setup of Microsoft PowerPoint. I personally would prefer to make a PowerPoint over an educational topic rather than a Glogster. The only feature Glogster has that PowerPoint does not have is the ability to imbed music and videos in the presentation without going to the internet and finding it there. Personally I prefer simple presentations and that is why I enjoy PowerPoint more. The learning curve for Glogster is very easy, it does not take a long time to understand how to use it. You create a Glog which you can edit to display pictures or information. The effectiveness depends on what the presentation needs to be effective. Glogs are effective for displaying academic information to other students. Student engagement depends on the magnitude of time spent on editing the Glog. It can look very simple with some paragraphs of information and some pictures, or it can be decorative and showing diagrams of the topic as well as some pictures, music, and other information.

Glogster allows users to create interactive multimedia posters. Students and teachers can compile a variety of resources, from pictures and videos to sound bites and text, to create posters on any theme imaginable. I find Glogster to be a creative way for students to synthesize information and collaborate primary sources with student analysis. Glogster has a variety of uses and is excellent for students in upper elementary and above.

Being able to create multimedia posters and reports filled with animations, audio, and video is a dream come true for students. You can donate your posterboard and color markers to someone in the lower grade levels! The students really are into this and there is an option to set up a class account for you. It is easy to use, makes learning fun and eases presentation anxiety. Creating a glog uses a drag and drop system to create make this visual platform in which users create a poster or web page containing a variety of multimedia elements. Then you simply show it to the other students using the overhead projector or Smartboard.

I was very impressed with Glogster and feel that it could be used very effectively for class presentations of various projects by both teacher and student. Currently we have a project where the students present on Transformations, such as reflections, translations, etc. Powerpoint and the original poster have been a little limiting in how the kids can demonstate these actions. I feel that a Glogster would allow for a more life like and real application of these actions to be shown
