EdSurge is a user community and information resource for the emerging education technology ecosystem. Our goal is to help accelerate the adoption of innovation in education.

In early 2011, EdSurge got started as a newsletter filled with tips and insights about the emerging education technology industry. We figured everyone would benefit by knowing more about what was going on–and we wanted to respect your time by boiling it all down into succinct snippets.

As we talked with educators, we came up with a bigger idea, too–creating an app that would make it simple to discover and learn more about education technology. We wanted to cut through the marketing buzz. Not every product is right for every class. We believe that educators know their students and know what kinds of products might work for them. But finding those products has been as frustrating as searching for your car keys in the dark.

With the launch of the EdSurge site, we hope to shed some light on this dilemma. We’ve talked to hundreds of you–starting with teachers and developers, administrators, even parents–and taken your advice and feedback to heart. We’re building a technology-journalism mashup here, a place for good reporting and candid dialogue, personalized to your interests and needs. We want everyone to be able to dig deeply into products, learning about important topics, and get to know the organizations and schools in the space. This is just the start; we would love to hear more of what you want. Our commitment to you: no hype, no buzz. We aren’t funded by vendors. Education is too important to have anything less than this.
